NOT EMPLOYEES BUT FAMILY | A SAPIENT EMPLOYEE REVIEW
I tested positive for Covid. My symptoms were mild. I had a low grade fever for the past few days which wasn’t going away. I didn’t bother initially and continued with my schedule like nothing happened. It progressed with loss of my sense of smell. It bugged me and I decided to get it checked. Visited a doctor and narrated my symptoms to which he prescribed the test. My results were out the next day and it clearly mentioned that I had tested positive.
The guard had broken and I started panicking. It was a feeling like never before and I had no clue about what to do next. I decided to get admitted in the hospital’s isolation ward as I could not risk spreading the infection to others in the house. I immediately contacted the HR department of Sapient and shared my test reports with them over email. All the responsibility was completely taken over by my organization and they made sure that I’m given the best treatment available and that I’m not facing any kind of trouble.

I spent the next few days at the hospital’s isolation ward and my routine included daily intake of multi vitamins and a lot of warm water gargles to keep the throat irritation at bay. Also, one thing which was constant throughout was a regular twice a day follow up from Sapient about my health and on my overall progress. On each call, I was told to not worry even the slightest bit about work and deliveries.
All my clients were informed about my health and my teammates had taken over my tasks and the responsibility to deliver them on time and with accuracy. They made sure that work is not suffered because of which I was stress free.
My manager called me every evening and would have a chat with me. He would talk about everything else apart from work and made sure that I’m not thinking about office. He would also call my family often as they were worried about my health and the impact it might have on my job later. He cleared all the doubts my folks had which was again a major stress reliever. I knew what he was trying to do and I couldn’t be more thankful.
We all have been watching in the news that the hospital charges for covid treatment are over the roof and if you plan to get treated in a private hospital, be ready to shed huge amount for treatment. This situation was also taken care by the medical and health benefits that we get at Sapient. The entire treatment was cashless and I walked in and out of the hospital without paying a penny. All bills were settled for me by my organization.
I recovered completely in 8 days and my next covid test came out as negative. I self-isolated for another 14 days at home by locking myself in my room. Work helped killing time and I could finally catch up with my teammates over video calls. It felt great. Normalcy was resuming again. The past 8 days when I was at the hospital made me realize that my organization actually cares about me. With all the benefits which are provided to every employee when they join an organization, there wasn’t any compulsion for them to provide that personal touch. Nobody would have blamed them. But they still did. They took that extra step to make a sapient employee feel as an important part of the sapient family. It made me feel that I’m actually valued and I’m not just another face in the crowd. The human touch of the IT giant created all the difference.
